If you want to get to know Northern Ireland, it is advisable to stay one or two nights in Belfast and, in my opinion, one more night in Londonderry. There are many interesting places to see in Belfast and in Northern Ireland. The area has incredible landscapes such as the footprints of the giants, cliffs, lakes...

In this post I'll talk about the best areas to stay in Belfast, I'll also add some travel tips so you don't miss anything in Northern Ireland.


1. City center, the most comfortable area to stay in Belfast

Belfast is quite a small city. It is possible to visit all the essential places in one or two days, so one night's accommodation is more than enough. Therefore, since it is only one night, the best option is to stay as central as possible to avoid wasting time on journeys.

Around Belfast City Hall is what we could call the historic center of the city. The surrounding streets are commercial streets, with restaurants, shops, bars and various types of accommodation. In addition, many interesting places to visit.

Queens neighborhood, an economical alternative to stay in Belfast

If you want a cheaper option where to stay in Belfast, this neighborhood is a good alternative. It is about a 20-minute walk from the city center, so it would be fine if you are staying two or more nights.

It is a quiet area where to stay and its main attraction to visit is the Queen's University and the university neighborhood. You have the option of the metro to get to the center in just a couple of stops.

Its streets are very authentic and full of charm. In my opinion it is the most beautiful area to see in Belfast and a perfect place to stay.
