WHERE TO STAY IN AMSTERDAM: BEST AREAS AND HOTELS

1. Right in the center, the best area to stay in Amsterdam

If what you are looking for is to be close to the places of interest, bars, restaurants... and avoid public transport as much as possible, the best area is in the heart of Amsterdam. The center has a wide range of hotels of different categories. However, even a hostel is expensive. Of course, you will avoid having to waste time and money on transportation. It is possible to find a double room in a 3-star hotel for about 110 euros (in low seasons).

2. Jordaan, the most romantic area to stay in Amsterdam

It is important to note that the Centrum area of Amsterdam is home to up to 10 historic neighborhoods. Jordaan is one of them. And despite being in the center, I differentiate it in a different way because it is a neighborhood. It is one of the most charming places in the city. Its historic buildings so characteristic of the Netherlands, its boutiques, small cafes, charming little hotels...

The bad thing about wanting to stay here is that it is a fairly exclusive neighborhood, with little hotel offering and therefore more expensive prices. Although if you are looking for a romantic getaway I recommend looking for accommodation here.

3. Oud West, a trendy area to stay in Amsterdam

Another of the neighborhoods surrounding the historic center of Amsterdam where it is great to stay is Oud West. It is a neighborhood that is fashionable due to its wide variety of restaurants, bars, shops... It is quieter than staying in the historic center and still maintains a very good atmosphere with lots of leisure.

4. Oud Zuid, a good quality-price option to stay in Amsterdam

This neighborhood is located around part of the historic center of Amsterdam and you will reach the center by walking about 15 minutes. It is an area with many museums of interest, the most important of which are the Van Gogh museum, the Rijksmuseum and the Stedelijk. Furthermore, if you don't feel like walking to the center, it is an area very well connected to the center thanks to the tram. It is a quiet residential neighborhood with many green spaces such as Vondelpark. Prices are similar to the Oud West neighborhood. You can find double rooms in a 2.3 star hotel for about 85-90 euros per night (low season).

This neighborhood surrounds the Albert Cuyp market, the largest and most famous open-air market in Europe. In addition to the market, there are several places of interest to see, you will have restaurants with diverse cuisine, bars, shops... This neighborhood is a little further from the center.
