Where to stay in Bangkok: best areas and hotels

Accommodation in Thailand is quite cheap and in Bangkok, especially you can find for less than 20 euros per person in well-located 4-star hotels. If you have a backpacker budget, it is possible to sleep between 5 and 10 euros per person in pensions, hostels and simple hotels. In this post I tell you where to stay in Bangkok, which are the best areas and some hotel recommendations for all budgets.

WHERE TO STAY IN BANKOK

KHAO SAN ROAD, the best area to stay in Bangkok

Although Khao San Road has gained a reputation as a backpacker area, the street itself and its surroundings are an excellent idea to stay, finding hotels from hostels where you stay in a bed, to 5 star hotels.

It is a very safe area, both at night and during the day, and you can go for a walk, go to dinner, shop... as it offers a wide variety of services.

This area is also away from major highways or high-traffic areas. With what is quieter without a doubt. Just a few kilometers from other emblematic areas of the city and with good connections either by tuc tuc, taxi or by boat-taxi.

BANGKOK RIVERSIDE, one of the most beautiful areas to stay in Bangkok

This is one of the most beautiful areas of the city, on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. It is very close to Khao San Road and that is why many of the hotels that I recommend are between the two areas. In this area it is pleasant to walk and many of the accommodations have views of the river. It is close to places of interest, and you have easy access to the other side of the river using the taxi boat.

There are small restaurants and shops and you can find different types of hotels. In particular, there are several boutique hotels, they are really beautiful renovated mansions. This area is also much more expensive.

SUKHUMVIT, an area with a lot of atmosphere where to stay in Bangkok

Sukhumvit is a long avenue full of commerce, where there is always activity. You have many options of restaurants and bars. Although it is a very popular area, this area is not so quiet, there is a lot of traffic and it does not have as much charm. Of course, the connections are good and there are many accommodation options for all budgets.

If you decide to stay on this avenue, the best option is near Nana Plaza.
