WHERE ARE KUANG SI FALLS, LAOS

These beautiful waterfalls are 30 kilometers from Luang Prabang. They are located in a natural park surrounded by jungle. It is a perfect place to escape the ruin and traffic of Luang Prabang. The environment is very beautiful and I think it is worth going. To visit them you must keep in mind that half a day is lost between going, returning and enjoying them. So keep it in mind to organize your route through Laos.

HOW TO GET TO KUANG SI FALLS, LAOS

The option I recommend is to arrive with an excursion. The cost does not even reach 6 euros and includes round-trip transportation with pickup from your hotel.

If, on the other hand, you prefer to go it alone. If you have a motorcycle or rental car, you can use Google maps to find your way perfectly, because you can't get lost and it is very well signposted. Going with your own transportation gives you the freedom to go and come back whenever you want, make stops along the way, and go at your own pace.

The road to Kuang Si Falls is full of rice fields and mountains that dye the landscape an intense green. There are small villages along the way, wooden bridges and the occasional small temple. Once you arrive at the entrance you will have to pay 20,000 kips to gain access. There is a map as soon as you enter that will indicate different paths to take hiking routes and the paths that will take you to the waterfalls.

Following the route you will be able to see ancient trees with aerial roots, tropical plants with leaves larger than your entire body and you will begin to see several waterfalls and natural pools.

The journey to reach the highest waterfall is about 20 minutes. This last waterfall has a drop of 60 meters. Swimming is not allowed in any of the lagoons and although we saw some who broke the rule to take a photo, we must keep in mind to preserve the environment and follow the rules.

Within the park there is an area designated for the Tat Kuang Si bear rescue center. This recovery center is responsible for caring for these types of bears that are in danger of extinction. This rescue center has free access, but they ask you to contribute by purchasing a t-shirt or gift since all profits will be used to continue maintaining the center. Plus, you can always make a donation.
